I'm Paul Yates, founder of Demeon LLC and a cybersecurity engineer and architect with over 15 years of experience securing federal agencies, defense contractors, and large enterprise platforms. My career has spanned the U.S. Mint, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, DoD test ranges, and Sierra Nevada Corporation, with roles ranging from hands-on security engineering to leading security engineers across 100+ site federal deployments.
I work where security architecture, engineering, and operations meet. That means designing secure cloud and DevSecOps pipelines, deploying and tuning enterprise tooling like Splunk, DLP, vulnerability management, web gateways, and firewalls, and translating compliance requirements like NIST, FedRAMP, and FIPS into systems engineers can actually run.
Based in Erie, Pennsylvania, I serve clients remotely across the U.S. with a focus on federal prime subcontracting and critical-infrastructure engagements.
How I Work
Demeon is built for senior, short-to-medium-term cybersecurity engagements with a clear arc: assess, architect, prove, and deliver. I'm at my best when I'm hands-on — building proof-of-concept environments, leading rapid remediation efforts, standing up new architectures, and making the technology decisions a client's internal team will operate after handoff.
I partner with operators and managed-service providers for steady-state work. What I bring is the senior engineer who comes in, solves the hard problem, and leaves the client with something maintainable.

After more than 15 years inside federal programs and large primes, I started Demeon to do the work I'm best at: coming into a hard problem, getting hands on the architecture, and delivering something the client can actually run.
